About

Davina SandgroundPursuit of a healthy lifestyle has been my passion for several years. Originally from England, I started my career in nursing which peaked an interest in the role that food plays as medicine. After travelling and living overseas, I moved to New York where I worked for “Gourmet” magazine. It is fair to say that indulgence was part of my job there. I later moved to San Francisco and it was there that I began to discover how to balance a love of good food with a healthy lifestyle.

I am a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner and a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I earned my certification through The School for Applied Functional Medicine where I continue to study, deepening my understanding of the interconnectedness and cause of dis-ease in the body.

My passion is studying how nutrition and lifestyle choices impact such conditions as IBS, heart disease, diabetes, hormone imbalances and autoimmune disorders. Using the principles of functional medicine and science I give corporate and small group workshops. I also counsel motivated individuals to find the root cause of their health problems and address them so that they can feel good every day. In short, I help people reach optimal health, feel vibrant and find their “groove”!

I live in Washington, D.C with my husband, two children and labradoodle. I enjoy travelling the world, hiking, and cooking up healthy delicious dishes.
